This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a range of community settings and peoples’ homes, who provide support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work according to and may contribute to an individualised plan, and work without direct supervision. They may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.
To achieve this qualification, you must complete a minimum of 80 hours work placement.

- Provide a valid USI
- Be eligible to study in Australia with the Australian College of Community Services and Care
- Hold the required criminal and working with children checks (if applicable)

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is available to suitable ACCSC learners who have at least three to five years of relevant industry experience. ACCSC can assess and provide RPL credit with its RPL process!
If a learner’s RPL application is assessed as Not Yet Satisfactory, their option is to complete the qualification with ACCSC via online learning.

Work Placement
Learners must complete 80 hours of Work Placement with a qualified service provider in Australia. Learners will need to organise their own placement at a site that meets all requirements of the Workplace Resources Checklist.
