The CHC50221 Diploma of School Age Education and Care reflects the role of educators who are responsible for the day-to-day running of a regulated school age education and care service in Australia. As an educator you are required to plan, implement and manage programs across all areas of service operations. You will use specialised knowledge and analyse and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations. You will be responsible for the supervision of volunteers and/or other staff.
Educators in this context work in outside school hours care and vacation care.
To achieve CHC50221 Diploma of School Age Education and Care you must have completed a total of at least 280 hours of work with school age children in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include a requirement for workplace hours.

Work Placement
Learners must undertake 280 hours of work placement to complete this qualification. Learners will need to organise their own placement at a site that meets all requirements of the Workplace Resources Checklist.
