The nationally recognised CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health will give you the knowledge and skills to enhance your community services career.  Whether you are thinking of entering the industry or building upon your career, this qualification can assist you to do so.

This qualification reflects the role of workers who provide self-directed recovery oriented support for people affected by mental illness and psychiatric disability. Work involves implementing community based programs and activities focusing on mental health, mental illness and psychiatric disability. Work is undertaken in a range of community contexts such as community based non-government organisations; home based outreach; centre-based programs; respite care; residential services, rehabilitation programs; clinical settings; or supporting people in employment. Work is carried out autonomously under the broad guidance of other practitioners and professionals.

Job Outcomes

This qualification reflects the role of workers who develop and facilitate programs for young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.

 

Once completed, graduates have access to an array of professional careers including roles such as:

To complete your CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health, you will need access to:

  • A computer with reliable internet access and a web browser
  • A device to record video
  • Digital presentation media (e.g. PowerPoint, video presentation, infographics, etc.)
  • People to assist with role play activities in accordance with the Work Placement Checklist
  • An aged care support services organisation to complete Work Placement under the supervision of a person who holds a CHC43315 Certificate IV in Mental Health or higher.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is available to suitable ACCSC learners who have at least three to five years relevant industry experience. If a learner’s RPL application is assessed as Not Yet Satisfactory, they may still enrol and complete the qualification via our online learning portal.

Learners are required to obtain a National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check and other relevant requirements as per state or territory regulations and as specified by the individual organisation.

Certificate IV in Youth Work

This course is self paced and students have up to 18 months to complete their studies (additional 6 month extension available, conditions apply)

Australian College of Community Services and Care

The course is made up of 14 units in total. 11 core units and 3 elective units.

CHC50413 Diploma of Youth Work

Qualifies you to apply a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills in varied contexts to develop and provide services for youth including social, behavioural, health and welfare, among many others.

 

CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health

Qualifies you to apply a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills to provide services for clients in relation to mental health issues including counselling, referral, advocacy and education or health promotion services.

 

CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling:

Qualifies you to apply a broad range of specialised knowledge and skills to work with clients to provide personal and psychological counselling services.

Students must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be eligible to study in Australia with the Australian College of Community Services and Care
  • Hold the required criminal and working with children checks (if applicable)
  • Source a suitable work placement facility
  • Total Upfront Cost: $1399
  • Payment Plan: $2000 (weekly payments of $50)

All students will have the opportunity to have their prior learning assessed

You will also be required to undertake a Work Placement (minimum of 80 hours in an organisation focusing on mental health, mental illness and psychiatric disability.)
